"I knew it, I knew it, the Police killed the boys": Protests in Cases of Police Violence: Relatives and Militants in the Case of Damian Lucero
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article constitutes a reflection about Damian Lucero's murder, killed by policemen in 2007, in La Plata city. This paper analyzes the protests in demand of "justice" carried out after his death. We will try to identify the actors involved in those episodes, in order to detect different meanings given to their own presence in public space, the horizons of politicization of the claim and the conceptions about policing that guide their proclamations. Recognizing the conflictive relationship between "relatives" and "members of human right organizations", this article will pay attention not only to collective action theories (or social movements’ theories) but also to those researches related to the conformations of police in Argentina.
