Abstract

This article analyzes the major transformations experienced by the peronist political identity from the initial years of the 'transition to democracy' to the present day. In the first section we reconstruct, through the pages of Unidos magazine, the debates that took place in the 1980s within peronism regarding the relationships and tensions between the nacional-popular tradition, socialism and democracy. The second section examines continuities and breaks experienced by the Peronist identity in the 1990s, aiming to understand under what forms this identity was still present in a context marked by neoliberalism and patronage. Finally, in the last section we risk some hypothesis about the recomposition of peronism under Kirchner's leadership in the aftermath of the social and political crisis of 2001
